Creating Custom Datasheets
If customising or creating your own reports seems like a daunting task, QikKids 4 provides a simpler facility allowing you to generate your own customised datasheets. Select Custom Datasheets from the Tools menu in order to open the Datasheet Editor.
- Enter a Name and Description for your datasheet.
- Select a Category from the drop-down list. This will determine which report list your datasheet will be added to.
- Select the User Level and Group from the drop-down lists provided.
- If applicable, check one or both of the Require Start Date and End Start Date checkboxes. Checking either of these will prompt the user to enter the necessary dates on generating the datasheet.
- In the large empty box you need to enter the SQL query that will generate the data you need. This can either be typed in directly or, more likely pasted in from another source. For example, you can create your query in Access (using either the custom.mde or standard.mde databases) then copy and paste the resulting SQL into the Datasheet Editor. If help is required with creating the query you can email QikKids Support for assistance: support@palmtech.com.au (There will be a small charge for this service.)
- Save your Custom Datasheet and you'll see it appear in the list on the left-hand side.
To generate the new datasheet, click on the appropriate category button in the Reports screen. Your custom datasheet will appear in the list in blue text, its name prefixed with *. You can now run the report in the usual manner.
If a datasheet is found to be incorrect, it can be edited at any time from the Datasheet Editor. Likewise, if it is no longer required, simply select it in the Editor and click Delete. (Take care with deleting datasheets as this operation cannot be reversed.)
